Yes it is! This strange faux-prosthetic arm adds a whole new level of weird to the already kind of weird just socially acceptable practice of selfie taking. Narcissists looking to disguise their loneliness need look no further. Simply lugging around a near life size fibreglass arm and wielding it during solo photoshoots should be enough to convince online pals that you’ve got friends. While simultaneously convincing everyone watching from the comfort of the real world that you’re actually an unhinged idiot. And maybe they’d be right.

As you no doubt might have guessed, the creators of this monstrous nifty innovation, artists Aric Snee and Justin Crowe had their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks when they came up with the ‘sarcastic solution’ to not wanting to look alone while mindlessly snapping away. Nevertheless, the duo are serious in their attempt to highlight ideas of technology, its illusionary ‘connectedness’ and ‘sociableness’ and the constant, gnawing need for narcissistic internet validation.

Fortunately for everyone in the world, the Selfie Arm is only a prototype.
