Russian Chelyabinsk Meteor Strike

You could be forgiven for thinking it was an elaborate hoax, if it weren’t for the fact that on Friday the internet lit up like a Christmas tree with first-hand video evidence of a very big meteor burning a trail across the Russian sky before delivering a deafening sonic boom and crashing to earth, causing an explosion that injured around 1,200 people and wrecked an awful lot of buildings.

Yes, science fact has once again attempted to outdo science fiction, pulling a rabbit out of the hat in the form of the biggest meteor strike in over a hundred years, weighing in at 10 tons with a blast 30 times as powerful as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Amazingly, as a result of the fact that nearly everyone in Russia has a dash cam fitted in their car, the crazy event has been recorded from nearly every angle possible. Here are some of the highlights.
