These beautiful pixelated animated GIFs are from a Tumblr user named Waneella. They look great and the skinny legged figures and muted palettes look like they’ve drawn inspiration from the pixel art stylings of Sword & Sworcery. That’s no bad thing but these pieces go beyond that with a range of quirky themes- an electric wicker man, a mysterious teleporting figure, strange cities and forests- lovingly executed in handsome tones that are sure o bring a warm glow to pixel fans everywhere.

Fun Fact: The term pixel art was first published by Adele Goldberg and Robert Flegal of Xerox Palo Alto Research Center in 1982.
