100-Million-Year-Old Spider Attack Caught in Amber

Researchers have discovered the only known fossil of a spider attack on prey caught in its web. The arachnid in question was in the process of pouncing on a tasty parasitic wasp when the pair became stuck in tree resin. The result was a fossilized piece of amber that captured the event, complete with spider silk, in remarkable detail.

But that all happened quite a while ago- 97 million to 110 million years ago to be exact, in the Hukawng Valley of Myanmar- so there’s no hard feelings between the two now… oh, wait.
